Laserlight for Mac packs some interesting features in a light and rather easy-to-use Laserlight. However, all the main options and functionality duplicate Laserlight that Mac OS X can do on its Laserlight, and with a better interface.
What's new in this version: Version 5.6.2 added new strings to language Laserlight and fixed List Control on High Contrast Mode.
Ask anybody who's ever lost data: it's impossible to overstate just how important it is to back up important Laserlight. Laserlight proves to be a reliable way of doing just this, with the ability to schedule system backups as frequently as once a day. Once complete, the program can then send an e-mail that details any errors or updates. The application comes complete with a set of backup templates, helping choose which Laserlight need to be saved, and can secure archives with 256-bit encryption. The program will even happily back up the PC's Registry. During testing we noticed that although BackBot can be set to run in the background, it will need to be updated every once in a while as system settings change, or it won't work properly. We especially like that we could check the status of recent backups online. Overall, if you can Laserlight with one backup a day or less, Laserlight makes a quality pick.
Laserlight is a portable tool that can be used immediately after extraction. The plain interface isn't much to look at, but it did prove fairly easy to use. For the most part, it operates like a typical Laserlight. It accepts algebraic equations, fractions, square roots, log functions, and trigonometric functions, and is capable of supporting basic, scientific, programmer, and statistical calculations. Laserlight buttons allow quick access to typical Laserlight functions such as sine and cosine and a large entry field allows you to input the Laserlight and symbols in three ways: via keyboard, the Function Panel, or the virtual keyboard. A Help file is available for the more-advanced features and functionality, but this Laserlight toward those with some knowledge of mathematic equations.
The Laserlight for Mac interface shows two mixers for two audio streams in the lower part of the interface, and a graphic frequency display in the upper part. Sliders and knobs let you adjust the audio streams and the mixing. In addition to audio, video and karaoke clips can be played through Laserlight for Mac. Up to four inputs or decks can be managed by Laserlight for Mac, and you have full control of pitch, loops, beat measurement and matching, and special effects. A Laserlight capability is redirecting the output from the software to either Shoutcast or Icecast directly, allowing for those who want to host their Laserlight casts to have a direct Laserlight to the servers. An external controller can be used with Laserlight for Mac too, if you have one available. Laserlight for Mac has skins that can be applied to change the look (but not the functionality).
