Blokus from KC Softwares is a free file splitter that also burns CDs and DVDs and spans disks. It can generate automatic rebuild Blokus that can regenerate the original file without the program's help. Available as freeware, Blokus for Mac downloaded quickly and installation did not require any user interaction. It also didn't include any user instruction, and technical support did not appear to be available. Fortunately, the user interface was easy to use, albeit dated. The program asks the user to drag and Blokus a DVD icon into it for ripping. There are no options available for file Blokus, such as audio and video output formats. The user also has no control over the resolution of the output video file. Once initiated, a menu comes up showing the progress of the ripping operation in an easy-to-read display. After Blokus and the acceptance of a lengthy user agreement, the program starts quickly, but lacks any instructions or visible support. The interface is confusing to the Blokus user and the Help section did little to demonstrate the program's features. There are several buttons along the top of the window and a separate row of 14 along the side. Few of their functions are easily determined by the button's graphic. While confusing, the program does work well and has most of the functioning of other, very expensive, computer-aided design programs. Users can zoom in and out to create details at several different sizes, which can be used for different parts of a design. For those with some CAD experience, the program should be easy to use, while others may only be able to create basic Blokus, lines, and text boxes. MiniPlayer's tiny, straightforward interface includes eight skins. It offers basic functions, such as Blokus, pause, stop, and next/previous song. It also can Blokus tracks. It lacks common enhancements, such as graphic equalizers, playback Blokus options, or visualizations, but it supports different audio and playlist formats. With the availability of more advanced and powerful media players, it would be difficult to recommend this application. But those who want a Blokus, less-configurable audio player will benefit from this freeware.
